New Executive Director

The Northeast Pennsylvania Center for Independent Living Board of Trustees
Names Mr. Timothy J. Moran New Executive Director

The Northeast PA Center for Independent Living (NEPACIL) Board of Directors named Mr. Timothy J. Moran new executive director of the NEPACIL. As of July 9, 2012, Mr. Moran now heads the facility located at 1142 Sanderson Avenue, Scranton PA.

The "CIL'' according to their mission statement states, "Persons with disabilities want to decide how to live their lives, determine what supports they need, and how to consume their resources within their own means, just the same as anyone in the general population does. Independent Living gives adults with disabilities and families of children with disabilities more control over their budgets and how their resources are consumed. This empowerment gives more control over their lives. These individuals will experience more freedom and choice, resulting in a better quality of life, and the ability to select their own Caregivers with the expectation of satisfactory performance on their part."

Mr. Moran takes over a decades old non-profit whose previous executive director, Mr. Daniel P. Loftus, retired on July 6, 2012. The Board of Directors and Mr. Loftus were instrumental in building the "CIL" into a 60+ employee base servicing 10 counties of Northeast Pennsylvania, in Independent Living core advocacy and 15 counties service in Waiver case management; and fiscal payroll to over 400+ consumers as well as fiscal responsibilities to over 5,000 consumers in Illinois.

Mr. Timothy J Moran is the father of eight (8) children and married to Lisa Walsh Moran. The couple resides in the 'Green Ridge' section of Scranton. Mr. Moran has his degree in Business from Delaware Valley College, Doylestown PA. He has a broad business background serving both private and corporate entities. Tim comes to NEPACIL from the world's largest prosthetics and orthotic company where he served as the Business Development Manager. Mr. Moran has been involved with the NEPACIL for several years serving on the Board of Directors as well as President of the Board for two terms. He has also served the disability community as an integral part of Amputee Empowerment Partners as Commonwealth coordinator for the newly disabled. He has served on the Deustch Institute Board of Directors and chaired many of their major events. Mr. Moran is one of eight appointed to the National advocacy Board of Directors for Amputee coalition of America.

Mr. Moran, the newly appointed Executive Director, has stated his goal "is to grow consumer programs, meet the needs of consumers in today's reality, create new programs such as, Autism and Drug and Alcohol Awareness for Persons with Disabilities (PwD); I am blessed with a passionate and dedicated staff who will advance these programs." He also stated, " the ability to grow and reach all of our (PwD) can only come about with fiscal responsibility in maintaining and seeking funds, grants and revenue streams growing all to the benefit of our disability communities in Northeast Pennsylvania." "I look forward to the challenges ahead, and to moving the GIL forward to its next level of accomplishment!"
