Hot Topic: Voting For/Against Your Interests

The NEPACIL forum has been heating up with debate over the post regarding ADA And Politician's Views http://groups.google.com/group/nepacil/t/3063c5dd2a085a48

Many have discussed back an forth over the issue taken with U.S. Senatorial Republican Candidate of Kentucky Rand Paul and his saying he would favor local government making the decisions regarding accessibility and the ADA not the federal government.

How do you decide to vote against your interests? How do you weigh the decision?

If you are registered in the __________ party and agree with (most) of their views, what do you do when the candidate of ___________ party votes for/against your job/town etc?

For example, I belong to the X party. I voted for X party candidates my whole life. Now the new candidate wants to make wearing grey shirts on Tuesday against the law. I like wearing grey shirts on Tuesday. I agree with the candidate on everything else, but grey is my favorite color. Do I vote for the candidate? Vote for the opponent, even though I disagree with all the candidates views?

Each election we maybe faced with this issue. How do you decide whom to vote for?
